ShyneFest is a local live music festival, organised by St Johns residents Shyne and Kevin Adcock and their friend Ciaron Sykes. It has been running for the last five years.
The 2020 ShyneFest live-music festival would have taken place on 12th/13th June, 2020 at Apps Court Farm in Walton-on-Thames, had it not been for the Covid-19 pandemic that stopped all music and sporting events in the UK, until further notice.
The Knaphillian spoke to Shyne, who told us:
” For those who haven’t heard of us yet, we are a small, family friendly music festival with camping, silent disco, live music, art, crafts, activities, stalls, food, drink and loads of fun…. our venue isn’t far, in Walton-on-Thames about 20 minutes drive from Woking.
“Sadly, but understandably, ShyneFest has had to be postponed until next year, so our next event is scheduled for 4th & 5th June, 2021. As we all know, the parameters change on a weekly basis and if indeed large gatherings will be allowed by next summer… (I sincerely hope they are!)… we will be working closely with the local council to ensure we a providing the best and safest measures we can.
“At the moment, we have made no plans for this year, except we have been championing our bands and suppliers past and future on Facebook and Instagram since lock down and have collaborated with Pride in Surrey for their #NotAlone campaign to put on a few online live music nights, which have been a great success. I have added a few of the posters from the collaboration we did with Pride in Surrey.
“Our Facebook page has many online live events we have shared or collaborated… all of which can be watched at a later date. We have some amazing talent in our area. The musicians who rely on their creativity as their only source of income have been hit hard, so if you enjoy what you see, please do share their music with friends and family for their enjoyment, and help to keep music alive.
One of ShyneFest bands The Colour Blind Monks, is playing online this coming Saturday (6th June), but if you miss this live, you will be able to watch the gig through the ShyneFest FB page, at a later date.
Shyne continues: “All ShyneFest 2020 tickets have automatically been rolled over to 2021, and tickets for 2021 are on sale now. We have added a few perks and competitions are being run very soon, as 5th June marks five years since our first festival!”
